Eluminocity, a German Smart-City start-up, approached KFS GROUP for support in cost-down efforts for two of its products: an Electric Vehicle Charging Station and a Smart-City Sensor. The products had been well-developed by the company’s engineering team, but lacked industrialization for volume manufacturing. Additionally, the existing Contract Manufacturing Service had trouble supplying the required quality and quantity of finished goods.
Nature of Service: To address these challenges, KFS GROUP provided program and project management, supply chain management, strategic and operational procurement, and hardware engineering services to Eluminocity.

Industrialization of Charging Station: The charging station underwent a cycle of industrialization for both the mechanical and electrical components. Components and modules were standardized and re-engineered to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Supply Chain Analysis and Restructuring: The existing flawed supply chain was analyzed, and parts of it were replaced, made obsolete, or restructured to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Pricing Analysis and Renegotiation: KFS GROUP worked with Eluminocity to analyze pricing and renegotiate terms with suppliers and contract manufacturing services to reduce costs.

System Responsibility Contracting: A newly tendered contract manufacturing service primarily known in the automotive industry was contracted for system responsibility, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Result: Through KFS GROUP’s services, Eluminocity was able to successfully cost-down its Electric Vehicle Charging Station and Smart-City Sensor products. The industrialization of the products, supply chain restructuring, pricing analysis, and contracting of a new contract manufacturing service ensured that the products were fit for volume manufacturing and met quality standards. The implementation of these measures allowed Eluminocity to achieve its goals of reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
